Obituary for Jack Edwards

Jack  Edwards
Jack Edwards, 86, of Swannanoa passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017.
Mr. Edwards was born May 25, 1930 in Yancey County to the late Wes and Esta Edwards. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during the Korean War. Jack was a member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. Jack loved to garden and work in the yard. He loved his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his son, Randy Edwards; grandson, Travis Walker; five brothers and one sister.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Ruth Edwards; daughters, Vickie Hughes (Charles) and Tammy Edwards; brother, John Edwards (Judy); daughter-in-law, Linda Edwards; daughters-in-love, Joan Owensby (John) and Doris Walker (Joe); grandchildren, Chris Hughes (Lisa), Jacqui Godfrey (Tyler), Kaitlyn Franks, Erik Edwards (Noel), Megan Williams (Mike), and Kaylyn Chandler (Adam); and six great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at 12:30 pm at Calvary Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Cantrell, Rev. Jack Taylor, and Rev. Larry Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, from 11:30 to 12:30 at the church prior to the funeral service.
Pallbearers will be Ricky Edwards, Tyler Godfrey, Joe Walker, Tom Pace, Mike Pace, and Danny Curtis. Honorary pallbearer will be Harold Edwards.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Free Will Baptist Church, 2176 US Hwy 70, Swannanoa, NC 28778.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff and nurses of the John F. Keever Solace Center for their loving care and support.
