Obituary for Julius F. "Frank" Parker Jr.

Julius “Frank” Parker, Jr. died quietly in his home in Marion, NC on April 25, 2017. He received his commission as an officer in the US Naval Reserve in December of 1943, served as a carrier based fighter pilot in WWII and the Korean War and retired after 27 years of service.
He is survived by his daughter, Sarah “Marti” Light; step daughter, April Turner Lowley of Marion; son, Julius “Jeff” Parker of Knoxville, TN; grandsons, Olan Ray Light Jr., Anthony Lee Light; and great grandchildren, Brandon Scott Light and Sarah Marie Light all of East Tennessee.
He was preceded in death by his spouse, Barbara Turner Parker; grandson, Jefferson Todd Parker; and daughter, Susan Parker.
He slipped the surly bonds of earth and touched the face of God. He loved his family and big old Buicks. Ride on, Papa.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
