Dennis C. Roland (Elvis), 76, of Black Mountain, went to be with the Lord Saturday, June 10, 2017.
Mr. Roland was born December 12, 1940 in Buncombe County. Dennis was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He proudly served as a Buncombe County Sheriff for 7 years. Along with his love for his family came a love for the Lord. He was a wonderful prayer warrior and a trusted friend to many. Often seen dancing with his beautiful wife Brenda, he always had a smile for everyone. He used his resemblance to Elvis as a tool to tell others about the Lord. He will be missed by all who knew him. Dennis was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.
Dennis is preceded in death by his father, Wayne Roland; brother, Charles Roland; and grandson, Bailey Smith.
He is survived by his wife of 23 years, Brenda Epps Roland; daughters, Debbie Bartlett (Ronnie) of Black Mountain, Lisa Mumpower (Bryan) of Swannanoa, and Deana Orta (Quillon) of Swannanoa; sons, Matthew Roland (Maria) of Huntsville, AL, and Jack Lunsford of Barnardsville; mother, Pearl Roland of Black Mountain; 11 grandchildren; and 3 great grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Thursday, June 15, 2017 from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Kerlee Heights Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life Service immediately following with Rev. Charles Duyck and Rev. Kenneth Rhinehart officiating.
A private burial will be at Mountain View Memorial Park.
