Condolence: Often times it is unfortunate that we never get a chance to truly talk of an impact someone had on our life until after they are gone. Growing up at Kerlee Baptist, Dennis was always kind to me and constantly an encouragement in singing. When it came time for choir, if I ever hesitated going up front, he'd stand next to my pew with a certain look on his face until I got up and went up there with him. My favorite memory, however, was how when I was about 5 or 6 years old he would hold me up in the back row so that I could see the choir director and "be heard by the people out there." Always had a smile or a joke to tell me. Always respected me and I never felt talked down to by him, no matter how young I was. His kindness towards me extended outside of the church walls and into the community when I would see him at Denny's (teased him about living there) or wherever. This kindness continued well into adulthood as well. I remember one day after years since I last saw him, looking over and seeing Brenda and him sitting there, and Brenda nudging him in the side to get his attention (as he was talking to someone in a booth over from him) and then watching his face light up with that million dollar smile! Followed with a big "how are you?!" When I heard the news of his passing, I was very sad, as if I heard I had lost a close relative...in a way I did. To Brenda and the rest of the family, I'm thinking about you all and praying for you. I am at work in Boone right now and is killing me I can't make it down today. Please know that I would be there to support you if I could.
