Callie Mitchel Burleson, 92, of Black Mountain, passed away July 28, 2017 at Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center.
Mrs. Burleson was born September 4, 1924 in Buncombe County to the late John and Elsie Sneed. Callie worked for three generations of the Clevenger family at the hosiery mill before retirement. She attended Piney Grove Baptist Church, Old Fort.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Walter Lee Burleson; and 11 siblings.
Callie is survived by her daughter, Norma Jean Burleson of Black Mountain; brother, John C. Sneed of Black Mountain; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 1, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 pm at Harwood Home for Funerals with a Celebration of Life Service following with Rev. Burl Jones officiating.
Burial will be in Mountain View Memorial Park.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Emerald Ridge Rehabilitation and Care Center for their wonderful care of Callie.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Piney Grove Baptist Church, Old Fort.
