Jack had friends from everywhere and was loved by all who knew him and he loved deeply his friends and family. He was a veteran of the US Navy at an early age and then worked as manager in the insurance industry. He retired from Kanawha and then opened an independent agency and worked for 20 more years. Jack loved music especially gospel and sang with the Happy Hearts Quartet for 50 plus years.
He was preceded in death by his father, Fred Wheeler; mother, Clara Cella Wheeler; wife and mother of his children, Grace Hice Wheeler; and brother, James Wheeler.
Jack leaves behind his loving wife and best friend, Gale Wheeler; daughter, Kathy Wirtz; sons, Ronnie Wheeler (Joan) and Larry Wheeler (Pam); 6 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; stepchildren, Stuart Moody, Cheryl Fore (Gene), and Darlene Robinson (Jerry); 5 step grandchildren; 5 step great grandchildren; and sisters, Elva Wright, Elsie Shurson, Pearle Kilby and Ginger Odom.

A graveside service will be held Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at 11:00 am at the church cemetery.
A special thanks to the hospice team for their care, Susan, Amber, Nancy and Cindy, and little 3-year-old Gracie for helping Nana care for Pa! She was his ray of sunshine.
