Obituary for Genevieve McMahan Robertson

Genevieve McMahan  Robertson
Genevieve McMahan Robertson, 89 of Swannanoa went home to be with her Lord and Savior, on August 15, 2017. She was born January 13, 1928 in McDowell County to James Waymon and Gertrude Wiseman McMahan, who has proceeded her in death, and lived in Buncombe County most of her life.
She was a member of Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church and a charter member of Calvary Free Will Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School, was Church Clerk and choir member. Genevieve retired from Singer-Kearfott after 33 years of service.
In addition to her parents she was proceeded in death by her husband, Ralph V. Robertson; sister, Maneva Farr; and special friend, Lewis C Metcalf.
Genevieve is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine Hines and Walter of Swannanoa, Carolyn Grant and Ray of Cumming, GA, with whom she made her home; grandchildren, Kim Hines of Middletown, DE and Alan Hines and wife Sally of Townsend, DE; 3 great grandchildren, Emma, Ethan and Eli Hines; her sister, Doris Hampton of Hoover, AL; brother, Bill McMahan of Greenville, SC; and several nieces and nephews.
Receiving of friends will be Saturday, August 19, 2017 from 10:00 to 11:00 am at the Chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals and funeral services will be immediately following, with burial at Piney Grove Cemetery in Swannanoa, NC.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be sent to Meadowbrook Free Will Baptist Church, 204 Blue Ridge Road, Black Mountain, NC 28711 or Townsend Free Will Baptist Church, 4519 DuPont Parkway, Townsend, DE 19734.
At other times, the family will be at her home in Swannanoa.
