Obituary for Clarence Eugene Hensley

Clarence Eugene  Hensley
Clarence Eugene Hensley of Swannanoa, passed away October 28, 2017 after an extensive illness. He was 85 years old and was the son of Joseph B. Hensley and Ida Huskins Hensley of Burnsville.
Clarence is survived by his wife, Peggy Yow Hensley of the home; a daughter, Beverly Talbot of Asheville; two granddaughters, Traci Talbot of the home and Staci Ward and husband, Tyler of Easley, SC; and great grandson, Lincoln.
He was a graduate of Burnsville High School and was a member of the Air Force following graduation. He served in Japan, Korea and England during the four-year duty in service. Following the military, he went to Florida to work on building homes. After marriage, he returned to NC and worked on building in the Swannanoa area.
Clarence enjoyed working in the garden especially raising watermelon and working outdoors.
He was a remarkable man and loved his family with every fiber of his being. He was loved by many and will be sorely missed. His memory and legacy will continue to remain in his family’s hearts forever. Clarence was a Godly man who enjoyed attending church at East Asheville United Methodist Church and the companionship of his fellow church members. He was actively involved in church activities and enjoyed helping others.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 2, 2017 from 11:30am to 12:30pm at Harwood Home for Funerals with a celebration of life service immediately following with Rev. James Lamb and Rev. Kerry Purselle officiating.
Burial will follow at 2:00pm at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
