Condolence: A friend introduced me to Virgil Clark and soon after I was introduced to Nancy and Ruth. Due to Nancy's gracious invitation to use the property surrounding their lovely home, the Nature Center staff was able to offer nighttime owl prowls, calling in Screech and Barred Owls, often close enough to view with flashlights. What a thrill that was for the participants - I'm sure there are many who are very grateful for that unforgettable experience thanks to her generosity.

Condolence: What a woman. My wife Renne' and I both had 'Miss' Wrenn during our years at Owen HS. Renne' and I both taught high school in Buncombe County for over 30 years, and lessons and observations picked up from her carried over into our own classrooms. Not just classroom management and teaching techniques, but lessons on how to treat people with dignity and respect, while still requiring diligence. I wish I had a dollar for every time her name has come up over the years. 'Miss' Wrenn helped many many people become better humans. Godspeed.

Condolence: I was fortunate enough to teach "across the hall" from Ms. Wrenn for many years. She not only was an inspiration to her students but also to those of us who taught with her. She impacted many lives in the Swannanoa Valley and will be remembered fondly. My deepest sympathy goes to her family and friends.

Condolence: My sincere condolences to Nancy’s family and friends. A great heart stopped beating but her gentle soul will always be part of us. I met “Miss Wrenn” when I started teaching at Owen High in 1970. Miss wrenn was the blueprint of a master teacher, she was: spilling over with knowledge of history; never late; always organized with well-prepared lessons plans; an excellent disciplinarian; always demanding excellence. I stood in admiration!
As the years passed and I got to know Nancy we became friends. She continued to teach me through her example. She loved animals, not just her horses and pet dogs but all God’s creatures and she loved to watch them play and run in the mountains she called home. She went into action and helped when say a need. Many times, she and Ruth would jump into their little red jeep and deliver wood on freezing cold days or leave baskets of food on a door step or quietly donate money to help families down on their luck. Nancy left footprints all over my heart and my life is better and much richer because I was blessed to know her. I think the Cherokee knew a spirit like Nancy when they wrote, “When you were born, you cried, and the world rejoiced. Live your life so that when you die the world cries and you rejoice.”

Condolence: Please allow me to express my deepest condolences for your family's loss. I hope that you will find comfort in the real hope that the Bible gives of being reunited with your loved one again. In the Bible at John 5:28, 29 it reads, "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out.". The Bible there promises that your loved one will come back to life again in the resurrection. (Acts 24:15) The Bible also promises that soon death will be no more. (Revelation 21:3, 4) I encourage you to visit JW.org for more information about this wonderful hope.

Condolence: Nancy's passing leaves me with a feeling of great loss. Loss of a role model and friend who was gentle and kind who quietly, in her own way, made the world a better place in which to live. I'm grateful and thankful for the beautiful garden of memories that will be cherished forever!

Condolence: She was our history teacher, but taught us to think and reason. It was why, not just who or when. We gave correct facts, but the tests came back with failing grades. Good heavens, we had to learn to write out an answer. She taught the lesson again and the test was exactly the same. I think it was four times the test was exactly the same. We had to write an answer to convince her we knew more than who or what, a time and a place. She had to read every answer. Dear God, I thank you for the life of this person, rare and beautiful, who added so much to my own life. I will never forget. Thank you for sharing your love of life and teaching with me.

Condolence: I am very proud to be one of the many individuals that Miss Wrenn influenced over the decades to pursue aviation as a career. Her love of flying was contagious, and I got hooked on airplanes before I could drive a car thanks to Miss Wrenn. She answered my questions and explained aviation with such enthusiasm that I thought “Who wouldn’t want to do this for a living?”. It was one of the highlights of my life to not only have Miss Wrenn as a teacher, but as a mentor and friend. Whenever I got checked out on a new airplane I’d always call her and say, “Thanks to you, guess what I’m flying now?” and you could tell from her voice just how proud she was. It was a privilege to spend time in her classroom, fly an airplane with her, and just be in her presence. Always pleasant and cheerful, she was an incredible, lovely, and wonderful person who made a huge impact on the lives of many in the Swannanoa Valley and elsewhere, and I will be forever in her debt.
