Condolence: I am so very sorry to learn of Mrs. Hansel's passing. All of us at Allergy Partners so loved seeing her and appreciated the great joy she brought to everyone around her. Our sadness, however, is tempered by the knowledge that she now enjoys eternal peace.

Condolence: JANE POOR HANSEL (1933-2018)
In remembrance of a wonderful friend and mentor - one of the staunchest fighters for the rights of teachers I have ever met. I met Jane over 45+ years ago in Greensboro and soon learned that joining NCAE was an honor, a privilege, a right, a responsibility and a duty. She helped teach me about speaking out for those who can't; defending the importance of public education and marching in many major cities to show those beliefs. Jane was so very very bright and had such a grasp of political structure and how to get things done...not just talked about. She "retired" from NCAE as a Uni-Serv director in 2003 but that was strictly on paper...she never retired from trying to do what was right for students and teachers and principals. She married Steve Hansel in 1981 and together they traveled to many places and did so much good - whether it was in the missionary fields of Africa or the needs of a new generation of teachers. Her work with Teacher Cadets ensured yet another generation entering the education world under the tutelage of Jane. Jane touched so many lives in so many ways - she never truly met a stranger nor did she ever back down from what was inherently right. Thanks, Jane, you were my professional mentor but a wonderful lifetime friend. Rest in the peace and understanding of a life well lived. Class dismissed.

Condolence: My thoughts and prayers for the family. I was very fortunate to have taught at Page and known Jane for 5 years at Page and then for several years after I moved to Atlanta. Jane was a wonderful friend, confidant and advisor and I have missed her and regretted that we somehow, unfortunately lost touch. I have thought of her frequently over the years and many times recounted the Hanging Rock "experiences" I accompanied her and her students on. I will be forever grateful for her friendship. She had a phenomenal impact on me as well as other teachers, friends, administrators, and students. We have lost a great person, but Heaven has gained a great soul.

Condolence: Jane was a constant delight as a person and as a colleague. She was effective, reliable, funny, and everything you would want as a workmate. I truly loved Jane and I know God is enjoying the company of a first-rate mind and a lovely heart.

Condolence From: SID BAKER
Condolence: I have lost a friend, while thousands of others have lost a warrior and a champion. Jane was not only my friend, but she was my mentor, my confidant, and my angel. Over the years, I learned so much from Jane and I will be forever grateful. She instilled hope in me when at times I felt I was at the end of my rope.
Jane is now at rest and the legacy that she leaves behind is both unprecedented and unparalleled. She has truly earned her wings and I will always look up to her with gratitude and love. My sincerest condolences to Steve and her children, her grandchildren, other family members and friends. I love you and will always miss you, Jane.

Condolence: Mrs. Poor! You were one of my favorite teachers at Page! You not only taught me a lot, (including keeping up with Civics) but you did it with great STYLE, which literally guaranteed we paid attention to you! I had your class right after lunch, and I can STILL hear you saying, “Miss Jones, your mouth is flapping!” That meant I needed to either spit out my gum or stop talking!!😂😂 I know you’ll be missed but not forgotten! Bodie, I’m SO sorry for your loss!
