Obituary for Doris (Da) Loftis (Wainwright)

Doris (Da)  Loftis (Wainwright)
Doris (Da) Wainwright Loftis, 91, of Asheville, went home to be with the Lord on August 16, 2018.
Da was born and raised in Florida where she married Dr. Warren T. Loftis, Jr. They raised four daughters in Tampa. The family spent summers in Montreat, NC and moved there in 1973. Da was the receptionist in Warren’s medical practice both in Tampa and Black Mountain, NC. She was also the receptionist at Asheville Dance Theater. Da was an active member in Palma Ceia, Hyde Park, Montreat and Trinity Presbyterian Churches. Since 2013, she lived at the Laurels of Summit Ridge. Her family thanks the staff of the Laurels for their loving care.
Da is preceded in death by her parents, Hal and Faye Wainwright; husband, Warren T. Loftis, Jr.; daughter, Marsha Philips; and sons-in-law, Graham Philips and Steve Gadaire.
She is survived by her daughters, Melinda Christian (Bill), LuAnne Anderson (Randy), and Becky Wilson (Bobby); sisters, Judy Sandman (Bill) and Joyce Cattanach (Dennis); 12 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 am at Trinity Presbyterian Church. A reception will follow the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church, 17 Shawnee Trail, Asheville, NC 28805.
