Janie A. Belue, 65, of Black Mountain, NC, died peacefully after a brief and unexpected illness on August 16, 2018, surrounded by loved ones. Janie was born in Iuka, MS, the only child of Lucille and Alver Belue, who both preceded her in death. She leaves behind an extended family of cousins.
A proud graduate of Mississippi State University, she will be remembered as a dynamic National Board Certified music teacher at W. W. Estes Elementary School in Asheville, as well as many other area schools, and Alcorn Central, Burnsville, and Iuka schools in Mississippi. She held many roles at First Baptist Church of Black Mountain, including organist and deacon. Janie's lifelong passion was her beloved Camp Crestridge for Girls, where she served in many capacities including Administrative Director.
Janie will be remembered for her love of children, music, camp, and her many friends whom she called family. A memorial service will be held at Camp Crestridge for Girls Chapel on October 6th at 2:00pm. A TBD graveside service will be held in Iuka later in the Fall.
In her memory, donations can be made to Camp Crestridge Alumni and Friends Scholarship Endowment - Belue. Janie's greatest wish was that every little girl have an opportunity to go to camp.
