Harold Freeman Edwards, 82, of Fletcher passed away Thursday, April 30, 2009.
Mr. Edwards was born March 26, 1927 in Yancey County, living in Michigan for most of his life before moving to Buncombe County three years ago. He was a veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict.
He is preceded in death by his parents, John Wesley and Nancy Adkins Edwards; and son, Wayne Edwards.
Freeman is survived by his daughter, Shirley Decker; sons, Jimmie and Douglas Edwards all of Michigan; mother of his children, Elaine Edwards; sisters, Ann Ayers and husband, Boyd of Fletcher, Joy Linville of Johnson City, Tenn., and Martha Killman of Hickory; brothers, Furman Edwards of New York and Lloyd Edwards and wife, Velma of Charlotte; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
A private service will be held at a later date.
