Dorothy Catherine Beishline Grandage went peacefully into the arms of her Lord on Thursday, December 4, 2014. She had just celebrated her 92th birthday on November 25th.
Dorothy was born at home in Benton, PA, the fifth and last child of Hervey and Maude Beishline. She was predeceased by her parents; Arnold, her husband of nearly 70 years; her brothers, Oliver and Fred; and her sisters Helen and Daisy.
She is survived by her daughter, Joan Hudson of Fairview, NC; son, Richard Leigh Grandage and wife Donna; plus many beloved nieces and nephews, great and great-great.
Dorothy graduated from St. Luke’s Hospital School of Nursing in Bethlehem, PA and practiced as an RN in hospital and doctors' offices before retiring to raise her family. Later, she worked in the Genetics laboratory at NC State University. She was very active in her church and volunteered with many organizations, both medical and social. Dorothy was a great cook and even better gardener. She had the greenest of thumbs and could make rocks bloom. She is missed by all who knew her.
Private services will be held later at St. James Church in Pennsylvania.
