Jack B. Sawyer, Jr., 88, of Swannanoa, passed away Thursday, December 11, 2014 as a result from injuries sustained in a fall.
Mr. Sawyer was born July 31, 1926 in Buncombe County to the late Jack B. and Berkie Carson Sawyer. Jack enjoyed yard work and spending time with family. He was known for the walnuts he provided during the holidays. Jack worked for years at the NC State Dairy and Herd Improvement Association and later retired from Kearfott. He was a veteran of the US Army and a member of Antioch Christian Church.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Reva T. Sawyer who passed away December 21, 2013; sister, Betty Wallace; and brothers, Creed, Rodman, and John Sawyer.
Jack is survived by his stepson, John A. Love, Jr. of Fayetteville, AR; sister, Margaret Bridges of Alexander, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held December 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm in the Chapel of Harwood Home for Funerals with Pastors Don Scott and Harry Bowers officiating. Burial will follow in Bee Tree Cemetery.
The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.
