Katherine “Sue” Saunooke Adams, 80 of Swannanoa, passed away July 8, 2017.
Sue was born July 16, 1936 in Cherokee, NC to the late Edward and Katherine Saunooke. She was a proud Elder of the Eastern band of the Cherokee Indians, a member of the Eastern Star, and a volunteer member of the Swannanoa Fire Department. When she was a student at Charles D. Owen High School she was a member of the basketball team. She loved watching WWE and NASCAR. Sue enjoyed her family and her poodle, Sweetie. She was a member of Oteen Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, Sue is preceded in death by her husband, James Keith Adams; granddaughter, Katelynn Jones; and sister-in-law, Shirley Saunooke.
Sue is survived by her children, Bruce Adams (Jan), Keith Adams (Pam), Sherry Adams (Dave Haylett), brothers, Tom Saunooke (Joy), Mike Saunooke; cousins Edna Goshron and Charlie Saunooke; sisters-in-law Irene Umburger, Betty Allen, and Francis Banks; grandchildren Brian, Joshua, Laura, Colie, Stephen, Hannah, Cicely, Joel, and Nick; great grandchildren Jordan, Parker, Emma, Ella, Maddie, and Brody; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Thursday July 13, 2017 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Oteen Baptist Church with a Celebration of Life service immediately following with Rev. James Lamb officiating.
Burial will be in Sky View Memorial Park.
